About us

The Chinese Democratic Party was founded openly inside China in 1998. We are the European branch of its National United Headquarters, speaking in exile for the Chinese people. Our line has always been open, rational, peaceful and non-violent.

History

1. 1997.11.29Xu Wenli puts forward the programme “End one-party rule, build the Third Republic, renew constitutional democracy, protect human rights and freedom”, with the line “open, rational, peaceful, non-violent”.
2. 1998.06.25Wang Youcai, Wang Donghai, Lin Hui and others publicly propose forming the Chinese Democratic Party.
3. 1998.11.09Xu Wenli and others found the Beijing–Tianjin branch in Beijing; he is arrested the same month and later sentenced to 13 years.
4. 2002.12Xu Wenli is released on medical parole and goes into exile in the United States.
5. 2007.06.04First overseas congress adopts the party constitution and the “Third Republic Manifesto”.
6. 2011.06.06Second overseas congress adopts interim rules to the constitution and fixes the flag and emblem.
7. 2013.07.09Xu Wenli steps down as chairman and becomes honorary chairman.
8. 2019.12Fourth overseas congress: Ning Xianhua is elected chairman; Xu Wenli is appointed honorary chairman.
9. 2023.12.11Fifth congress in New York: Ning Xianhua is re-elected.
10. 2026.03.15The branch in Germany goes public.
11. 2026.10.01National Day: ladder speeches outside the Consulate General in Frankfurt.

Relationship to the National United Headquarters

The Europe branch is the European branch of the Chinese Democratic Party’s National United Headquarters. The headquarters is based abroad; the party’s official position is set by statements of the headquarters and of this branch.
